Eggs Benedict
Slam Poetry - not enough love
May 8th, 2007 by
Good day my friends
it seems we’re at ends
with this blog and I apologize
the size of posts is not the most
that this blog usually boasts.
Reason being? And I hope you’re seeing,
I am busy with my job and sob
if you will, but the benny projects
aside from a select few, don’t get the
love that I feel they need to.
All the hard work I do,
the potential for a sue or two
I risk fines when I show you a guy with
wisk in hand. I hope you don’t demand
that I keep it up, I’ll add when I can but
please understand, the attention from
the public is sub-par- I got a new car.
how far with this go who knows, I
just need a little more love from those
who’s finger goes eggsbenny.gothacked.org
on their keyboard.
Sheridan Family Restaurant - 3901 Sheridan Dr.
April 28th, 2007 by
Well, a quick google business search found this restaurant for me. I’ve been in the habit of calling ahead to make sure that the places I’m considering for my ratings have eggs benny so I don’t waste my time. They did indeed, until 1pm. Sheridan Drive is full of all sorts of places to eat. I believe I’ve done Tom’s as well as Alice’s Kitchen. This place kind of looked like it used to be a bank. But on the inside, it was apparent that it was a very well-converted Pizza Hut, with an addition on the front. It felt like a great place for people to go after church or something. but at anyrate, on to the ratings -
Hollandaise sauce -13/15- I could definitely taste the lemon. It was very tastey, but I could have used a little more.
Eggs -15/15- Unbelievably perfect.
Canadian Bacon -14/15- authentic, and a good slice.
English Muffin -12.5/15- they had the crunch that I like to hear when I munch.
Homefries -13/15- onions could have been mixed up and cooked with the homefries, but they were good none the less.
Total Meal Score: 67.5/75 - 90%
Service / time -5/5- no moments of waiting.
Price -4/5- $6.95 - not a bad price, but my gut wasn’t busted.
Atmosphere-4/5- very nice conversion on the old pizza hut. I didn’t recognize it, I did only because I had a pizza hut employee with me.
Overall Score - 90.5/100
And of course, the delicious cross section shots:

Holiday Showcase Restaurant - 3765 Union Rd
April 25th, 2007 by
Well, I decided to venture out of my neighborhood again and try a place near the galleria. This restaurant is pretty sweet! it is an architectural magic show! One who is weak in the heart might find that he or she might have a problem due to the crazy geometric flavor that is housed in the Holiday Showcase (left on Union when headed away from the Galleria Mall) This place is one of WNY O.G. Restaurants.
Hollandaise sauce -12.5/15- In good supply, but it was a little separated.
Eggs -9/15- One was perfect, but the other was way overcooked (see below)
Canadian Bacon -13/15- It was a pile of sliced ham off the bone. Very tasty, but not quite canadian bacon.
English Muffin -8/15- kind of weak
Homefries -15/15- Awesome. Peppers, onions and flavor.
Total Meal Score: 57.5/75 - 76.6%
Service / time -3/5- A bit longer than I’d prefer
Price -4/5- $7.35 - A little high, There was a lot of homefries, so I guess I can’t complain.
Atmosphere-5/5- Like I said, an architectural masterpiece.
Overall Score - 76/100
And of course, the delicious cross section shots:

Wikipedia has apparently thought that we were the number one source for info on eggs benedict. Thanks.
Royal Family Restaurant - 1320 Sheridan Dr
April 15th, 2007 by
Finally, after almost a full 3 weeks without Eggs Benedict, I have managed to get eggs benedict in me. Hopefully this will rekindle the spark that used to be with me and the Eggs Benny. As any fan has probably seen, I haven’t had the time to rock out and put up much new content. This is due to the amazing amount of work that I’ve been rocking out at my job. I had two 10 hour days, an 11 hour day, a 15.5 hour day and a 9 hour day this past week. Let me tell you… motivation to do anything when I get home is like next to nothing. Ok ON WITH THE POST!
This weekend, after all the Easter celebrations and the sort, we went to Royal Family Restaurant on Sheridan and Military, right near the brew store that I get all my supplies from. (http://www.nthomebrew.com) I think Royal may be tied in with the flying turtles restaurant or something, because they had flying turtles items laying around and the staff had it on their shirts. But anyways, this place looked amazing on the inside!
Check this fountain out!

They have all sorts of ornamental metal and interesting photos too. But at any rate the menu had “royal eggs benedict” on it. claiming that they had a “special cheese sause” that they used instead of Hollandaise.. they didn’t have the regular benny on the menu. I was nervous but I also love when people put an original twist on a classic dish - as long as its a good twist.

Hollandaise sauce -10/15- I appreciate the original twist on the meal, but the cheese sauce was a little too thick for benedict, and the texture wasn’t as smooth as I prefer. Keeping the rating in double digits for originality though.
Eggs -15/15- perfectly poached eggs. not runny in any area but oozing with flavor.
Canadian Bacon -15/15- A hook up of thick and very flavorful real deal C.B.
English Muffin -9/15- not toasted to crispness.. and a little petite
Homefries -13.5/15- Perfectly cooked, a little salt and they were great.
Total Meal Score: 62.5/75 - 83%
Service / time -4.5/5- Quick enough, but we were in the lunch rush time.
Price -5/5- $7.29 - I don’t mind investing in a place that is filled with eye candy.
Atmosphere-5/5- gotta see it to believe it. for casual greek dining, this place really steps it up. royal indeed.
Overall Score - 87/100

Where to get the bacon?
April 1st, 2007 by
GANG, I apologize, I’ve been working massive hours and can’t get the updates that I want. Even as we speak I am working at this Polish Meat store (Redlinski Meats) on the weekends, and unless the Royal Restaurant serves their benny at oddball hours of the day… I don’t think I’ll get a rating in this weekend! oh NO!!! But check this out… Redlinski’s sells all their stuff online… and one of the things they sell is Canadian Bacon! and they also sell PeaMeal Bacon (which is what the Lake Effect Diner uses) go to Buffalofoods.com today to see all the Buffalo favorites that you can send around the country. Or skip the guess work and go right to the bacon page by clicking HERE!
